Sheraton Style Mahogany Inlaid Games Table, Early to Mid-20th Century
Item Details
This mahogany games table, produced in the Federal Revival Sheraton style during the early to mid-20th century, features a distinctive serpentine ‘cloverleaf’ silhouette. The hinged top rotates 90 degrees on a swivel mechanism to support the leaf when open, revealing a large card-playing surface. Decorative elements include a central marquetry conch shell inlay on the apron, framed by satinwood stringing and geometric barber-pole edge banding. The table is supported by four elegantly ring-turned and fluted tapered legs. While structurally sound and retaining its original mechanical components, the mahogany finish on the top shows significant atmospheric blooming and surface wear consistent with age and storage.
