Handmade Afghan Mashwani rugs are a distinctive tribal textile woven by the nomadic Mashwani tribe in the rugged terrains of western and southwestern Afghanistan. These rugs are highly recognized for their unique ‘Berjesta’ or ‘Barjista’ technique, which combines flat-weave (kilim) and raised-pile sections to create a textured, three-dimensional surface.
