French Provincial Style Black Painted Bombé Commode, Mid to Late 20th Century
Item Details
This striking commode captures the dramatic flair through its bold black finish and elegant French Provincial silhouette. The chest features a pronounced bombe (curved) front with two deep drawers, each accented by decorative metal hardware including central escutcheons and matching bale pulls. The architectural design is highlighted by a deep scalloped apron and elongated, slightly tapered legs. While originally manufactured with a distressed aesthetic, the piece shows significant additional signs of domestic use, including paint abrasions and chipping along the beveled edges and base. Despite the surface wear, it remains a functional and stylish focal point for entryways or bedrooms.
