This authentic Afghan Taimani rug features a powerful geometric medallion with stepped ‘latch-hook’ edges, rendered in a striking palette of nomadic orange and rust against a deep, charcoal-toned field. Woven by the Taimani tribes of central Afghanistan, the rug utilizes a heavy wool-on-goat-hair foundation, giving it a characteristic ‘floppy’ and durable handle. The design includes various ‘S’ motifs and tribal stars, framed by a multi-stripe guard border. The long, lustrous pile and traditional flat-woven ends (kilim) reflect a heritage of craftsmanship designed for the harsh mountainous climate of the Ghor province.
