Federal Mahogany Cloverleaf Flip-Top Card Table, Early 19th Century
Item Details
This Federal Revival card table features a distinctive cloverleaf-shaped top with a meticulously reeded edge. The hinged top rotates or flips open to reveal a spacious mahogany gaming surface, supported by a swinging gate-leg mechanism. The apron is adorned with highly figured flame mahogany veneers, subtly accented by light-wood string inlay along the lower edge. Elevated on four slender, tapered legs with ring-turned detailing at the shoulders, this table exemplifies the elegant proportions and neoclassical motifs popularized during the American Federal period. Its versatile design allows it to function as a decorative console when closed or a functional game table when fully extended.
