Chippendale Style Mahogany Bachelor's Chest with Flip-Top, Circa 1940-1950
Item Details
This mid-20th-century bachelor’s chest is a well-executed example of Chippendale Revival furniture, crafted in mahogany with a functional flip-top design. The top is hinged and unfolds to create a larger writing or dressing surface, supported by two manual pull-out lopers located on either side of the top drawer. The chest features four graduated drawers, each fitted with machine-cut dovetails and ornate pierced brass batwing hardware. The case is elevated on traditional bracket feet. Though the piece retains its structural soundness, the top surface shows significant historical wear and finish degradation consistent with regular use.
