This Late Victorian pedestal desk is executed in the Renaissance Revival style, featuring a primary construction of rich walnut. The rectangular top is inset with a dark brown leather writing surface, further detailed with a gold-tooled peripheral border. The desk is configured with two frieze drawers above twin pedestals; the pedestals contain hinged doors with architectural raised panels and circular bosses, flanked by fluted pilasters and acanthus-carved brackets. The interior of the left pedestal reveals open pull-out trays, while the right pedestal houses three graduated drawers with brass bail handles. The entire unit is elevated on compressed bun feet. Construction details include precision hand-cut dovetails and period-correct brass drop handles and escutcheons, highlighting the high-caliber cabinetwork typical of late 19th-century European craftsmanship.
