This mahogany slant front desk by Maddox of Jamestown is a mid-20th-century interpretation of the Colonial Revival style. The piece features a hinged slant front that opens to a tiered interior containing multiple pigeonholes and five small serpentine-front drawers. The exterior case is equipped with four graduated drawers, each dressed with brass batwing handles and matching escutcheons. The desk is supported on a stand with a scalloped apron and four cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. Constructed with machine-cut dovetails and a plywood back, this desk serves as a functional and decorative American residential furniture piece.
