Anglo-Indian Carved Hardwood Cabinet
Item Details
This Anglo-Indian cabinet is crafted from a dense hardwood, exhibiting the rich, dark tones typical of Sheesham. The piece is heavily ornamented in the Rajasthani tradition, featuring a facade adorned with intricate hand-carved foliate and geometric borders. The central arched double doors are reinforced with vertical and horizontal wrought iron strapping, further accented by decorative circular brass bosses and medallions. Below the main cabinet space is a single full-width drawer fitted with a simple brass ring pull. The cabinet stands on a scalloped plinth base. The overall surface displays a heavy ‘patina’ and significant finish wear on the top board, lending the piece an authentic, weathered aesthetic characteristic of mid-20th-century Indian colonial-style furniture.
