Chinese Carved Hardwood Hexagonal Pedestal Stand with Marble Inset
Item Details
This ornate Chinese pedestal stand is crafted from a dark, dense hardwood and features a hexagonal top inset with a variegated ‘dreamstone’ marble slab. The upper frame is finished with a meticulous beaded border, sitting above a deeply recessed and reticulated apron carved with high-relief floral blossoms and scrolling vines. Supported by six elegantly curved cabriole legs, the piece is further stabilized by a central spoke-patterned stretcher. The legs are decorated with foliate carvings at the knees and terminate in stylized animal-form feet. This stand represents the enduring Late Qing aesthetic, designed for the display of heavy jardinieres, bronzes, or scholars’ stones.
