Assembled Pair of Sheraton Revival Caned Rocking Chairs
Item Details
This rare complementary pair of Sheraton Revival rocking chairs, consisting of one adult-sized and one child-sized chair, features high-quality walnut frames accented by decorative burl walnut veneer inlays along the crown. Both pieces exhibit traditional hand-woven cane backrests and seats, supported by neoclassical silhouettes characteristic of the early 20th-century ‘Age of Elegance’. The smaller chair includes distinctive scrolled arms and turned spindles, while the larger chair features a tall, arched back and standard armrests. The presence of turned front legs and stretchers indicates a blend of Federal and Edwardian craftsmanship common in Sheraton-style revivals.
