Alexander Begge for Casala "Casalino I" Children's Stacking Chairs, 1970s

Item Details

This set of four ‘Casalino I’ children’s stacking chairs was designed by Alexander Begge for Casala in 1970. Influenced by the Space Age aesthetic and the cantilevered silhouettes popularized by Verner Panton, these chairs are constructed from a single piece of injection-molded red plastic. The design features a smooth, organic flow from the rounded backrest into a supportive seat, terminating in a wide, stable base that allows for easy vertical stacking. Each chair bears the ‘casalino I’ designation molded directly into the material on the lower reverse. These chairs represent a significant moment in German plastic furniture design, merging playfulness with high-concept industrial engineering.
