Chippendale Style Mahogany Pie Crust Pedestal Table, Late 19th/Early 20th C.
Item Details
This Chippendale Revival occasional table is crafted from mahogany and features a distinctive ‘pie crust’ molded rim along its circular top. Unlike period 18th-century tea tables that typically feature a tilting mechanism, this late 19th-century version is engineered as a permanent, fixed-top pedestal table. The top is secured via a circular mounting block to a classically turned baluster pedestal characterized by ring and urn-shaped elements. The table stands on a stable tripod base of three cabriole legs, each terminating in hand-carved scroll feet. The dark mahogany finish exhibits a significant patina of age and use, including prominent surface scratches to the top and wear to the carved extremities of the base.
