Postmodern Style Chrome and Glass X-Base Coffee Table, Late 20th Century

Item Details

This Postmodern coffee table is a sophisticated example of late 20th-century High-Tech Modernism. The piece features a substantial square tempered glass top, subtly tinted, resting upon a rigid, architectural chrome-plated steel frame. The base is defined by its industrial geometry, consisting of four square-profile vertical legs unified by a central X-form stretcher that intersects at a precise 90-degree angle. A hallmark of Postmodern design, the flat tops of the legs are engineered to sit flush with the glass perimeter, creating a seamless, structural plane. While the table remains structurally sound, the chrome finish displays a heavy vintage patina with visible pitting and oxidation across the metalwork, characteristic of authentic 1970s environmental exposure.
