3'6 x 12'9 Hand-Knotted Turkish Anatolian Yahyali Carpet Runner

Item Details

This hand-knotted Turkish runner originates from the Yahyali weaving tradition of Central Anatolia. The composition features five vertically aligned hexagonal medallions, each boasting a distinct color-blocked interior of purple, orange, and cream. The field is a vibrant, saturated red, typical of the high-quality madder root dyes utilized in the Kayseri region. The rug is distinguished by its heavy, high-luster wool pile and authentic nomadic finishing, including wide flat-woven (kilim) skirts at both ends decorated with multicolored geometric triangles. The primary border is composed of a narrow ‘running dog’ or sawtooth motif, framed by thin guard borders. This piece is a robust example of 20th-century tribal folk art, maintained in superior physical condition.
