Fick's Reed Co. Five-Piece Bamboo and Rattan Sectional Sofa, Mid-20th Century
Item Details
This five-piece modular sectional sofa was produced by the Ficks Reed Co. during the mid-20th century. The set comprises two end chairs with single arms and three armless slipper-style chairs, all constructed from dark-stained bamboo and rattan. The frames feature characteristic arched base supports and rattan-wrapped joinery, while the arms are finished with cylindrical metal caps. A manufacturer’s metal label featuring the company’s palm tree logo is affixed to the frame. The units are currently paired with rectangular foam cushions upholstered in a textured mustard-green fabric. This versatile seating arrangement exemplifies the Tropical Modernism style popular in American interior design during the 1950s and 60s.
