Chinese Carved Hardwood and Marble Top Pedestal Stand, Late 19th/Early 20th C.

Item Details

This Chinese export pedestal stand features a circular hardwood frame with a distinct beaded outer rim encircling a recessed, quatrefoil-shaped rose marble inset. The apron is meticulously decorated with deep, pierced carvings of scrolling foliage and blossoms, extending downward into four cabriole legs. Each leg is surmounted by a prominently carved dragon head with bared teeth and scales, transitioning into a leaf-carved shaft that terminates in traditional claw-and-ball feet. The structure is reinforced by a curved X-form stretcher meeting at a central hub. This late Qing style stand represents the ornate craftsmanship typical of Cantonese workshops produced for international trade during the late 19th and early 20th centuries
