This large-scale commode is executed in the French Empire Revival style, produced by skilled artisans in Egypt during the latter part of the 20th century. The case is constructed with rich reddish-brown veneers, supporting a thick, contoured green marble top with a stepped profile. The facade is lavishly ornamented with heavy gilt-bronze mounts, most notably a central military trophy crest featuring a Medusa head shield, crossed spears, and standards. The upper section contains two drawers decorated with scrolling floral ormolu, while the sides feature fluted columns wrapped in gilt ribbons. The piece is elevated on substantial bronze lion-paw feet. Modern construction elements, such as the machine-assisted dovetails and the ‘Made in Egypt’ provenance label, distinguish this as a decorative reproduction of the Napoleonic era.
