Born in Kpahime Togo West Africa, his father a professor of language, Komlavi Klati and his mother a fashion designer Yao-Kouma Akpene. Eric’s love for art started at age 3 even became the kindergarten teacher’s favorite. At age 7 Eric was already a cartoonist by using the other side of his father’s printed exam papers for his students. At 16 he was using his grandmother’s clay sculptures, in high school he was teaching Art to his classmates since there was no Art teacher. Eric has been living in the USA since 2002 and since then he has been selling his work to musicians, artists (famous and infamous) a few private collectors and actors. Eric has sold and exhibited his work in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and in New York.

Eric’s work is expressed through acrylic on raw canvas and ink and pencil on paper. His subject matter navigates a powerful cultural landscape, moving between ancestral traditions, modern icons of music and stage, and the transformative leaders of social movements. Masterfully striking and raw with vitality, his pieces capture the spirit of his subjects through urgent movement and a bold, emotive color palette. Eric’s practice is rooted in a singular, guiding philosophy: “Love who you are and what you do, and you’ll get love back.”
