Yorkshire House, Inc. Mahogany Chest of Drawers

Item Details

This mahogany bow-front commode was produced by Yorkshire House, Inc. of High Point, North Carolina, and serves as a late 20th-century reproduction of George III period furniture. The chest features a curved front profile with a configuration of two short drawers over three long, graduated drawers, all finished with flame mahogany veneers and bordered by rope-twist carved molding. The fluted stiles terminate in shaped bracket feet, providing a classic Neoclassical silhouette. Each drawer is fitted with brass-toned bail handles and circular backplates, accompanied by decorative escutcheons. A manufacturer’s metal identification plaque is affixed to the interior of a drawer, verifying its origin in the American furniture manufacturing hub of North Carolina.
