Set of Four Flemish Renaissance Revival Carved Oak Side Chairs

Item Details

This set of four Flemish Renaissance Revival side chairs is constructed from solid oak and features intricate hand-carved details. The crest rail of each chair displays a figural hunting motif, centered by a wild boar head and flanked by two reclining hounds. The vertical stiles and the H-form stretchers are executed in a traditional barley-twist (solomonic) turn. Each chair is upholstered with a modern blue-patterned fabric on the seat and a medallion-patterned textile on the inset backrest, secured by brass-toned upholstery tacks. The front legs terminate in block-and-turned feet fitted with metal casters, while the rear legs remain stationary.

Condition

- overall with various scratches, marks, nicks, abrasions and wear consistent with age and use; splits/cracks from age; reupholstered.
