Mersman Duncan Phyfe Style Pedestal Drum Table with Carved Tripod Base
Item Details
This Mersman pedestal drum table features a classic Neoclassical revival design common in mid-20th century American furniture manufacturing. The circular mahogany top sits atop a deep frieze housing a single functional drawer, which is constructed with machine-cut dovetail joints and retains its original brass-toned batwing pull. The central turned column terminates in a tripod base with three down-swept legs, each embellished with relief-carved acanthus or leaf motifs leading to spade feet. Underneath, the table retains a partial ‘Mersman Tables’ manufacturer decal and the stenciled model number 6997. This piece represents the durable, mass-produced mahogany furniture popularized in the United States during the 1940s and 1950s.
