This Americana cedar hope chest is constructed from aromatic cedar panels, featuring a warm natural grain and characteristic knots. The rectangular case is accented by two vertical decorative bands on the facade that continue across the lid, designed with printed neo-classical motifs to simulate traditional wood inlay. The lid is secured with brass-finished hinges and an interior mechanical stay to support the top when open. The chest is supported by four carved ogee-style feet fitted with functional metal casters for portability. While exhibiting surface wear and minor nicks consistent with household use, the interior cedar remains in clean condition, retaining the protective qualities for which these chests were designed.
