Grand Tour Carved Marble Head of a Satyr
Item Details
A hand-carved white marble head of a satyr (or faun) in the Neoclassical style. The figure is depicted with characteristic caprine features, including recurved ribbed horns, pointed ears, a furrowed brow, and a thick, stylized curly beard. The carving is executed in a fragmentary ‘excavated’ style popular during the Grand Tour, intentionally omitting the back of the head and shoulders to mimic archaeological finds.
