Ercole Barovier for Artistica Barovier Handblown Aventurine Murano Glass Vase
Item Details
Ercole Barovier (Italian, 1889–1974)
A titan of Murano glassmaking, Ercole Barovier served as the artistic director of Barovier & Toso for over fifty years, designing an astounding 25,000 unique pieces. Despite having no formal training as a glassblower, his background in chemistry allowed him to revolutionize the medium through inventive techniques like colorazione a caldo senza fusione (heat coloring without fusion). Barovier’s work bridged the gap between ancient Venetian tradition and bold, 20th-century modernism, earning him international acclaim at major exhibitions from Venice to Paris. Today, his legacy lives on through his iconic textured designs, which remain some of the most sought-after examples of Italian decorative art.
