This authentic industrial architectural element is a 1936 U.S. Post Office Department service window grille manufactured by the Keyless Lock Co. of Indianapolis, Indiana. The rectangular steel frame is finished in a distressed red paint and features a central white-painted 32-pane security grid over blue-tinted glass. A front-mounted metal identification plaque displays the government department and unit number ‘2480.’ The reverse side retains original stenciled markings confirming its 1936 manufacturing date and federal property status. Designed for wall-mounting, this piece represents a rugged example of mid-century American postal infrastructure.
