4'8 x 8' Hand-Knotted Persian Yalameh Area Rug

Item Details

A hand-knotted Persian Yalameh rug, attributed to the nomadic Qashqai tribes of the Isfahan/Fars region. The design features a distinctive vertical column of stepped, latch-hooked diamond medallions on a vibrant madder red field. Each medallion contains secondary geometric motifs in a polychrome palette of ivory, navy blue, and burnt orange. The borders consist of a main ivory guard with stylized ‘star’ florets, flanked by minor ‘S-hook’ and ‘running dog’ geometric borders. Construction is wool pile on a cotton foundation with overcast selvages and fringe.
