4'2 x 6'6 Hand-Knotted Persian Qashqai Area Rug

Item Details

A hand-knotted wool rug from region of Northwest Persia. The design features a prominent double-ended geometric ‘anchor’ medallion in navy blue and ivory, set against a vibrant madder-red field. The field is populated with various tribal motifs, including stylized rosettes and geometric ’wolf’s mouth’ corner brackets. The rug is finished with a ‘checkerboard’ or ‘barber pole’ secondary border and a primary ‘running dog’ geometric border. The weave shows approximately 6-8 knots per linear inch (horizontally).

Condition

- color shifts, abrash and dye bleed; snags, pilling and lint; areas with repair; areas with heavy pile wear, loss and exposed foundation.
