Victorian Gothic Revival Walnut Secretary Desk, Mid to Late 19th Century
Item Details
A Victorian-era walnut secretary desk. The upper superstructure includes a central arched opening with Gothic-style pierced fretwork and two side cabinets with paneled doors that open to reveal vertical document cubbies. The lower section consists of a rectangular desk surface with a central frieze drawer flanked by a stack of four graduated drawers on the left and a single turned leg on the right. Construction details include hand-cut dovetail drawer joints and a paneled wood back. Decorative elements include molded drawer fronts and turned, fluted legs with ring carvings.
