A high-quality hand-knotted wool carpet from the renowned weaving center of Kashan, Iran. The rug features a classic ‘Shah Abbas’ design with a large, ornate central medallion on a rich crimson red field. The field is meticulously decorated with scrolling floral islimi vines, palmettes, and cloud band motifs. The secondary palette includes shades of indigo, sky blue, ivory, and sage green. Technical analysis of the reverse reveals a dense double-weft construction on a cotton foundation, typical of the fine ‘city’ weavings from Kashan.
