Description: An 1811 oblong folio edition containing a suite of copperplate etchings (including title) by Roman engraver Luigi Fabri (c. 1778–1835). The plates reproduce the famous Renaissance fresco cycle of Cupid and Psyche painted by Raphael and his workshop in the Villa Farnesina, Rome. Published in Rome Presso l’Incisore (At the Engraver’s). Bound in half-leather over cloth boards with gilt lettering to the spine reading ‘LA FAVOLA DI AMORE E PSICHE RAFFAELLE.’ Contains an early 20th-century bookplate on the front pastedown reading ‘T.A.G. The Library Sycamore 1908.’ A notable Neoclassical interpretation of Raphael’s myth logical masterwork.
