Husidio John Tempest comes from a long line of notable and successful artists, stemming from Antonio Tempesta, circa 1600, in Florence, Italy. His father Gerard Tempest (1918-2009) was a student of famed Italian Surrealist Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978). At the Art Students League, Tempest studied under artists John Howard Sanden (born 1935) and Nelson Shanks (1937-2015). He maintained a close association with de Chirico and worked in his studio in Rome.
