Antique 1761 Colonial Boston Petition Letter to Selectmen
Item Details
A letter from Samuel Mackintire to the Selectmen of Boston. Transcribed: On the first day of July last (as I then Inform’d Joseph Jackson Esqr. One of the then Selectmen) as I was passing in Boston, with my team, I had an ox badly wounded by a bull belonging to the town of Boston, and was then put to charge and difficulty, and for near two months after was obliged to chain said ox and drest his wounds once every day and oftentimes twice a day by which means I was put to further charge and difficulty, and to my detriment at least six dollars; I therefor doubt not, but that you will (according to rour wonted goodness) make me reasonable satisfaction therefor, I am with due respect.
Gentlemen, Your very Humble Servant,
Samuel Mackintire
