Belle Époque French Empire Style Marquetry and Bronze Mounted Mahogany Bedstead

Item Details

A monumental French Empire revival mahogany bedstead featuring an architectural headboard with a central mirror, two integral nightstand pedestals and integral electrified lights with globe shades. The headboard pedestals are topped with marble and contain single drawers above cupboard doors, accented by bronze bas-relief panels of dancing putti. The footboard displays a central diamond-patterned parquetry panel flanked by curved ‘winged’ sides, further embellished with figural bronze term mounts and rose-garland friezes.

Condition

- wood surfaces show age-appropriate wear, including minor veneer losses and abrasions to the lower base and feet; the marble inserts are intact; bronze elements show a darkened, authentic patina, and the mirror glass displays light silvering; structural rail system shows some distortions and bending.
