A Japan Art Association member from 1959 and International Association of Art member from 1964, Nobuteru Shimotakahara was a celebrated printmaker. He was a member of several additional art associations and the recipient of prestigious awards such as the Sozo and Kodo Arts awards. He held several independent exhibitions in Japan between 1956 and 1964 before moving to New York and actively exhibiting from 1965 to 1975. Shimotakahara passed away in New York in June 2006.
