| Additional Information | Box was purchased in Fez, Morocco, at an antique shop in 1973. The two manuscripts were purchased together in Morocco with the leather Qur’an case and cardboard cases, now in fragments, made from recycled manuscript pages. 20 sheets have what appears to be a European watermark and are written in Maghribi script, which was used in Spain and North Africa. The remainder sheets are written in Naskh script, used by the Ottoman Empire. |

- broken or missing glass cabuchons on box; oxidization to metal; dents; loose twisted wire decoration; disintegrating leather; holes, tears and areas of missing leather; abraded gilt decoration; insect damage, toning to paper; stains; holes, some from acidic ink; tears and creases; areas of missing paper; five pages adhered to backing paper for consolidation; remnants of old binding.
