Ottoman Qur'an & Waqf-nama in Mustafa Düzgünman Ebru Slipcases, 18-19th Century

Decription: A curated presentation set of two antique Ottoman manuscripts, united in custom marbled paper slipcases.
1. The Quran (Mushaf): Illuminated manuscript on polished paper, Naskh script with Persian interlinear translation in red. Features a floral Rococo-style opening bifolio (‘unwan) in gold, blue, and pink. Includes ownership inscription of ’Ahmed Askeri’ (Ministry of Pious Foundations).
2. The Waqf-nama & Selected Surahs: Illuminated manuscript containing Surahs Al-Mu’minun, An-Nur, and Al-Furqan, followed by a legal Endowment Deed (Waqfiyah) with Tughra-style header. Flyleaves contain an extensive handwritten ’Scholar’s Library Inventory’.
3. The Slipcases: Both volumes are housed in matching marbled paper (Ebru) slipcases signed by the master Mustafa Düzgünman, featuring his signature floral design.

Condition
- manuscripts are stable after 1989 conservation, with toning, ink fading and wear consistent with age, including edge wear and creases; tight binding; abrasions and wear to the cases.
Restored / Stable: Both manuscripts underwent documented conservation in 1989. The Quran was resewn with flax thread; final two leaves are Japanese Kozo paper facsimiles. The Waqf-nama binding was restored with green goatskin and gold retouching. Düzgünman slipcases are in very good condition with minor shelf wear.
