American Pine Paymaster's/Depot Desk Box with Original Paint, Mid-19th Century
Item Details
A sloped pine writing box, historically designated as a Paymaster’s or Depot desk box, with a hinged lid revealing a fitted interior with multiple storage cubbies. Exterior features remnants of original paint, showing a distressed surface with cream tones. The front panel includes a brass keyhole escutcheon. The lid is secured by two exposed iron strap hinges attached with period screws/nails. Mid-19th Century (c. 1840-1860).
