Japanese Bronze Bell with Phoenix and Cloud Decoration, Meiji-Taishō Period

A cast bronze, helmet-shaped bell featuring high-relief decoration of two opposing phoenixes (Hō-ō) amidst stylized clouds (un). The bell has a dark, uneven patina and is surmounted by a simple, looped suspension finial. The lower register is bordered with a repeating lotus or foliate band.

Condition
- Overall good structural condition with no visible cracks or dents. It retains a dark, uneven patina consistent with age and exposure. The interior surface is dark. There are minor casting imperfections and surface wear present on the high-relief elements.
