Pair of American Wooden Trade Signs, Early 20th-Century
Item Details
A pair of wooden trade signs, likely dating from the early 20th century, advertising professional services. The larger sign features the carved and raised, gilt-painted letters ‘DISTRICT NURSE’ on a dark, textured background board. The smaller, dark-painted sign is hand-lettered in gilt script with the words ‘Private Ambulance’ on one side and ‘H. G. BLANTON ERLANGER KY’ in block letters on the reverse. The style and historical context of the H.G. Blanton sign point to a funeral director/undertaker who also offered ambulance services in Erlanger, Kentucky, around the 1900s to 1920s.
