Cincinnati-based artist Cedric Michael Cox describes his work as architectonic lyricism, combining Cubism and Deconstructionism. While his work often integrates elements of urban architecture, it also reflects his interest in musical composition as geometric and curvilinear forms appear to weave and dance across the canvas. Cox received his BFA at University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) and was awarded a fellowship to study at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Throughout his career, he has executed several large-scale murals in both public and private locations in the Cincinnati area. His work has been exhibited and collected by several institutions including Cincinnati’s Contemporary Arts Center, the Columbus Art Museum, the Dayton Art Institute, Caza Sikes, 21c Museum Hotel, and Five Myles Gallery in Brooklyn among others. Most recently in 2021, a series of 64 of his paintings was installed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
