Joseph Baris immigrated to Cincinnati in 1956, where he studied periodically under Roland Huston and Chuck Marshall. His work is held in private and corporate collections and he has shown his work in many galleries. He is a member of the Cincinnati Art Club and the American Impressionist Society.
