’Thomas Cain (b. January 16, 1956) is an American visual artist whose work is distinguished by the creation of what he calls “his creatures”—a recurring symbolic element that forms the foundation of his artistic vision. These figures embody Cain’s reflections on the human condition, serving as vessels for his most personal emotions and responses to life’s trials, tribulations, and triumphs. His work captures the full range of experience, from moments of seriousness and contemplation to those of joy and elation, all expressed through a lens of optimism and vitality.

Cain’s creatures are never static; they interact seamlessly with bold abstract concepts, layered patterns, and striking color palettes. Over the years, Cain has drawn inspiration from, and even exchanged ideas with, some of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. Today, his paintings and works on paper are included in prestigious private collections around the world.
