‘George Baker was born in Muncie, Indiana and moved to Richmond, Indiana in his early teens. Considered a brilliant colorist, Baker demonstrated artistic ability early in his life. Baker was a charter member of the Richmond Palette Clube, serving as the president of the organization. When asked about his use of color Baker responded, ’I don’t paint nature the way I see it. I paint nature the way I wish it was.’’

- separation of frame in top and bottom left corners of the frame; white scuff mark at center of left edge of frame; craquelure to paint on canvas with some paint loss; red scuff mark near top edge of frame; abrasions to frame along right edge; abrasions to bottom left corner of frame; heavy lint residue along top edge of frame; hole to canvas near bottom right corner.
