Peter Keil Abstract Portrait Acrylic Painting, Late 20th Century
Item Details
Peter Robert Keil (German, born 1942)
Abstract portrait, late 20th century
Acrylic and ink on paper mounted to paperboard substrate
Signed to lower left
Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miró. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.
