A 1935 Chesapeake and Ohio Lines George Washington railroad advertisement celebrates the 150th anniversary of the company (predecessor company started in 1785 by George Washington). It depicts three kittens sleeping in a bed and advertises their genuinely air conditioned train with the declaration: ‘Sleep like a Kitten in air-conditioned comfort.’ The bottom of the advertisement includes a written piece dedicated to their cuddly mascot: ‘Acknowledgements to ’Chessie’ – the Chesapeake and Ohio Kitten.’ Set in a simple concave black-painted wooden frame with a gilt inner border.
Condition
Some yellowing and stains on advertisement consistent with age and use.
