Zena Kaplan was a multidisciplinary artist of the 20th century who exhibited across the United States and in Stockholm, Sweden. She began her visual arts career in the late 1950s. Her artist statement proclaims ‘I cannot live without color or good music. The improvisations, unfamiliar tonalities, unexpected twists and turns, uncharted territories, inventiveness, exciting rhythms and varying moods motivate me in my work.’

While in New York, she experienced commercial success, working for over a decade with Henri Bendel, hand-painting textiles. Later in life, she moved to San Diego. The new scenery reinvigorated her creativity and reflected in her work.

Zena’s academic achievements include receiving her B.A. at Adelphi University, an M.A. at Hofstra University, with additional academic work at Stony Brook and the Arts Student League. Her work has appeared in many publications, including Bon Appetit, Brides Magazine, House Beautiful, and the New York Times.
