An original watercolor ‘Still Life on Desk’ by Columbus, OH, artist Harriet Kirkpatrick (1877-1962). Kirkpatrick graduated from the Columbus Art School and founded and directed the Ohio State Fair Exhibition until 1927. Her work has been widely acclaimed and she spent her life traveling, painting and teaching. This painting illustrates a quiet still life in serene muted colors. A bouquet of zinnias overflows from a jade toned vase and two bookends holds three small novels. The artist’s use of color in the bouquet against a subdued background helps to create a charming, atmospheric quality in the composition. Displayed in a beveled wood frame with gold toned inset.
