Original Kenneth Ozier Lithograph
Item Details
An original lithograph by well listed painter, draftsmen, designer, writer and printmaker Kenneth H. Ozier (1905 – 1978). Ozier was born in Cincinnati and studied art at the AAC as well as UC. This print was purchased from an exhibition held by the artist at Closson’s Gallery here in Cincinnati in 1944. There is a photocopied newspaper clipping explaining the exhibition, which apparently exclusively featured lithography, attached to the verso. The print is entitled ‘Shanty Boat in Winter,’ and is pencil signed by the artist to the lower righthand corner and subsequently dated 1937, it is also plate signed at the left corner, and below in pencil the artist has written ‘60 prints.’ A fine example of what can be achieved through the delicate process of lithography. Truly it is the draftsmen’s favorite form of printmaking. The print is presented in a simple wooden frame with double matting to edge.
