Item Details
A set of two prints, ‘The Gleaners’ and a boat print. ‘The Gleaners’ is a print of an oil painting, by artist Jean-François Millet, completed in 1857. It depicts three peasant women gleaning a field of stray grains of wheat after the harvest. The painting is famous for featuring the lowest ranks of this rural society in a sympathetic way, and was received poorly by the upper French classes. This print is framed in wood with a linen mat. The boat print is by artist Margeri, features boats in harbor in soft pastel tones. This print has a double mat mounted in a mottled gold-tone wood frame. 1941 is printed on the back of the work.
